Cold case officers investigating the death of a baby discovered wrapped in a toilet roll bag 16 years ago are keen to speak to a couple.
Police in the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate's cold case team have released descriptions of a couple seen visiting a grave in the area where the baby was buried at Bybrook Cemetery in Ashford.
The baby, named April by police, was found by a couple walking alongside Singleton Lake, Ashford on April 3 1995.
So far, despite exhaustive police enquiries, no-one has been found for the death.
The baby weighed 7lbs and is believed to have been born between March 26 and April 3 1995.
She was found wrapped in a Kleenex toilet tissue bag inside a 'Motaworld' carrier bag, and a post mortem revealed she was suffocated.
In March this year, police exhumed the body for forensic tests.
Detective Superintendent Rob Vinson, from the Directorate's Major Crime team, said: "The forensic examination allowed us to obtain a DNA profile of the baby.
"This makes it easy for us to exclude individuals from the investigation with the use of a DNA test.
"We have descriptions of a man and woman who we are very keen to speak to in case they have information which will allow us to bring closure to this case."
Det Supt Vinson said: "We are also particularly keen to appeal to the baby's mother. We want to hear from you and hear your side of the story. We understand you may be worried or frightened by what happened, you may have been a young girl at the time and you may not have been alone.
"I urge you to contact me. I have specially trained staff who you can speak to. They will listen to what you have to say and you will be dealt with sensitively and compassionately."
The man is in his 30s and balding. He has a moustache, dark eyebrows, is thin and around 5ft 10ins.
He was wearing a round-neck sweater and dark trousers and is believed to have been driving a small, four-door Toyota Auris.
The woman is of a similar age, slim with medium-length brown hair in a side parting.
She was wearing a three-quarter length, fitted light-coloured coat, skinny dark coloured jeans and beige Ugg-type boots.
