A mother was escorted by police from a children’s indoor play area after a row broke out over a bottle of water.

Kelly Wheeler refused to leave Adventure Kidz, in Aylesford, when the owner accused her of breaching house rules by consuming food and drink bought outside the premises.

But although the mum admits she took in flavoured drinks for children Frankie, five, and eight-year-old Amy, she says the dispute escalated when proprietor Andrew Moody would not provide her with tap water.

She said: "I needed to make sure my kids are hydrated and I couldn’t buy anything from the cafe as I had spent all of my money on paying for my children to go in."

Miss Wheeler paid £6.95 entry for each of her children and water at the venue cost £1.10 a bottle.

She added: "The owner threatened to call the police unless I left so I told him to go ahead.

"I respect the rules and would have held my hands up but I didn’t agree with the way he handled the situation."

However, owner Mr Moody (pictured left) claims the 30-year-old parent ignored signs about bringing in food and the drink and became defensive when he asked her to put away her provisions, forcing him to ask her to leave.

"She refused and I had no choice but to call the police. I would offer any of my customers a free glass of tap water and I would have done on Sunday if she had apologised, but it had gone too far."

Miss Wheeler, of Horsted Avenue, Chatham, said one of the friends she was with had a snack pack for her four-year-old daughter but disputes the group had a hoard of food, as claimed by Mr Moody.

Retail Park at 3.15pm and escorted the horrified family from the site.

A police spokesman confirmed the incident and said no further action would be taken.
