Kent Police are running a campaign to crack down on drug dealing in the county as part of National Drugs Week.

Stop checks in key locations, drug warrants and multi-agency road checks will be among the operations taking place this week.

Officers will be taking part in a national day of action tomorrow to tackle doorstep crime. Traders and their vehicles will also be stopped and checked by police.

Superintendent Peter Wedlake, leading Kent Police’s campaign during National Drugs Week, said: “This is a great opportunity for us to link into two national campaigns and show our commitment to tackling crimes involving drugs and doorstep crime in our county.

Swab tests and police dogs have been used successfully in tracing drugs in previous night-time operations.

Mr Wedlake added: “It gives us the chance to run a number of initiatives and operations which have been successful in the past and which are likely to disrupt drugs networks in the area. We are committed to working with our partners to reduce the harm caused by drugs to the communities of Kent.”
