AN AREA of woodland was cordoned off by Kent Police today while an investigation began into an alleged rape.

The half acre site that borders the Haine Road and the Newingtion estate at Ramsgate was bordered with police tape with patrol cars stationed at either end.

A police spokesman confirmed that an allegation involving a teenage girl had been reported at about 1.50am this morning. A forensic team was called to the site.

But at about 11am police stated that the allegation was not being persued any further.
