Police are looking for a hit and run driver who knocked over a young mother as she crossed the road with her baby.

The 24-year-old woman was forced to push her child's pushchair out of harm's way before being hit by a dark 4x4 in Nettlefield Road, Kennington, at 1.45pm on Tuesday, May 11.

The vehicle, which was being driven by a man, did not slow down or stop after the accident.

PC Michael Baksh said: "Fortunately she only sustained bruising as a result of this collision. However, it was a very frightening experience for this young mother.

"I am keen to speak to anyone in the area who may have seen this dark coloured 4x4 type vehicle, or has any information about the incident that will help enquiries."

Witnesses are urged to call the police on 01622 690690 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
