Police name biker killed in 3-vehicle crash

KENT Police have confirmed the identity of a teenage motorcyclist who died in a three-vehicle collision on the A21 on Tuesday.

He was 18-year-old Robert Macey who came from Littlefield, Staplehurst, near Maidstone.

Robert’s parents have paid tribute to him in a statement issued through Kent Police. It said: "Robert was a much loved son and brother. His death has come as a tremendous shock to our family and friends."

Members of the family have stressed that they would like as many of his friends as possible to attend the funeral. Arrangements are being made by Sears funeral directors at Church Road, Paddock Wood.

The tragedy happened on just after 2.10pm on Tuesday at Lamberhurst, between the Kippings Cross roundabout and the Goudhurst roundabout at the A21/A262.

Robert's black Kawasaki ZX4 motorcycle was being ridden south, between Pembury and Lamberhurst. It was involved in a collision with a white Fiat Camper van and a green Saab car being driven in the opposite direction. Robert was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Kent Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 01622 798538.

The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident and reopened shortly before 6.30pm.

The coroner has been informed and an inquest will be held.
