Police name man killed after car hit tree

KENT Police have identified a front seat passenger who died after a car crashed into a tree in Shalloak Road, Canterbury, early on Sunday morning.

He was 32-year-old Marcel Pirvulescu, 32, who came from Harrow in north London. He has been formally identified by family members.

He was in the silver Volvo S40 that crashed just after 1am along with three other men.

The 24-year-old driver, and one of the back seat passengers are in a stable condition in hospital. But the other back seat passenger remains in a critical condition.

It is thought there were no other vehicles involved in the tragedy.

Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is investigating how the crash happened and witnesses who may have seen the car being driven before to the crash are urged to contact 01622 798538.

The relatives of all the men, all Romanian, have been contacted and are either in the country now or are en route here.

It is believed they were working picking fruit in the area.
