Police seek death crash witnesses

A FORD Galaxy driver killed in an horrific crash on the A2 near Harbledown has been identified as a Herne Bay man.

He was alone in the vehicle when it collided with a lorry parked in a coastbound lay-by last Thursday morning.

Most of the people carrier was wedged underneath the lorry and had to be removed by fire crew. The driver, who was the only occupant, was certified dead at the scene.

But a post mortem has proved inconclusive and the pathologist is waiting for the results of further toxicology tests.

The family of the 43-year-old driver has been informed of the death, but because of difficulties with formal identification, his name has not yet been released.

The accident happened shortly before 9.15am in the lay-by about half a mile from the Nackington fly-over. The coastbound carriageway between Bridge and Harbledown was closed for more than four hours while crash investigators attended the scene.

Police want to hear from anyone who witnessed the accident. PC Kevin Jones on 01622 608153 is leading the investigation.
