A TEENAGER killed when a car he was travelling in hit a tree and a telegraph pole has been identifield.
He was 19-year-old Nicholas Martin, from Woodchurch, near Ashford, a popular member of Woodchurch Scouts.
The tragedy, involving a red Honda CRX happened at School Hill, Warehorne, on January 4, at about 5.45pm.
Friends of Nicholas, Rob Hayward and Joe Benach, both 19, were taken to Ashford's William Harvey Hospital with minor and serious injuries respectively.
A statement from the Martin family read: “We would like to say that Nicholas is our son and our brother and we love him and we miss him more than words can say.”
Friend Kaylee Monaghan said: “You couldn’t find fault with him. He was so lovely. I had known him since we started school. He was the most genuine of people.”
Julian West, Group Scout leader at Woodchurch, said: “He was helpful, enthusiastic, keen and considerate. He was very supportive and would do anything for anyone.”
The Rev Neville Gallagher, who covers the Woodchurch parish, said: “The family is much-loved by the community. Their Christian courage in dealing with this tragedy is an example to us all. Our hearts and prayers go out to them. We also send our prayers to Rob and Joe.”
