A GROUP of parents were horrified to see pornography on a children's video when they played it at a little boy's birthday party.

Lewis King, aged two, and nine other children sat around the television to watch Buzz Lightyear's heroics in Disney's Toy Story 2 - but saw naked women cavorting in a soft porn film instead.

Father Scott King, of Charles Close, Snodland, near Rochester, said the seal on the casette box had been intact when he bought it from HMV at Bluewater. He had bought a three video set from the store for his son's birthday.

Now Disney has promised an investigation to try to find out how the tape was tampered with.

At the party Mr King was quick to stop the tape. He said: "I was horrified. We thought we would let the children watch the film for an hour. My young one started screaming, 'I want Buzz."

Mr King added: "Your first reaction is to laugh, but when you stop and think about it, it's naughty." His wife, Lucy, said: "I think it's disgusting."

She said that a customer services employee at Disney had told her that the company checked every tape before sending it out to video stores.

A spokeswoman for Disney said: "We take it very seriously and we have requested the tape to be sent back to us. It will be sent for testing to find out the cause of the problem. Until we have got that report back I can't comment."

Films are routinely taped over by distributors to save money by recycling tapes.

A spokesman for the store where Mr King bought the tape said: "Occasionally what happens is that you get one of these rogue DVDs or videos which haven't been copied over properly by the distributor. But before we can see the tape we can't say if that is what happened or if there's another cause."

He said: "When you're selling two million of these tapes, one or two rogue ones like this might happen. There's no way of checking them beforehand at the store. We sell them in good faith."

The spokesman added: "We're very sorry and will gladly refund it or exchange the tape for another copy."
