Friends of a mother-of-two who died this week have paid tribute to a “wonderful person” and “kind and loving mother”.
Margaret Penny, 40, was found unconscious at her home in Hamstreet on Sunday.
Police were called to the house in Rectory Walk, off Cock Lane, at 9.30pm.
She was taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford, where she later died.
A post mortem has revealed she died of a head injury.
A man who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on Sunday night and questioned for four days was released without charge yesterday morning.
On Friday afternoon police said a post mortem has concluded that Mrs Penny died from a head injury.
Further tests are taking place and Kent Police said the investigation is ongoing.
Police say at this point in time there is no intention to re-arrest the man questioned earlier.
Mrs Penny was married with two young sons.
Neighbours in the cul-de-sac of large detached houses spoke of their “shock and sadness”.
Tributes have also been paid by her friends in Northern Ireland, where she was born and lived before moving to the Ashford area.
