DRIVERS across the county will be told to "slow down for life" as part of a road safety campaign launched this week.
The Kent and Medway Safety Camera Partnership is launching the third stage of its Speed Shatters Life campaign, putting up purple and white posters with the message Slow Down for Life next to each of the 77 fixed safety cameras in the county.
The aim is to encourage road users to slow down and stay within the legal speed limit, while also showing that fixed cameras are not simply money-making tools, but also a memorial to those who have been killed or injured there.
Rachel Moon, communications manager for the partnership, said: "Speed Shatters Life aims to make road users think about the tragedies that have occurred before a camera was installed.
"I hope that on seeing the posters motorists will think about their driving, slow down and stick within the legal limit for everyone’s safety.
"It is important that the public understand that cameras are not there to catch road users out, they are there to reduce death and serious injury."
BLOB u03A4he partnership includes Kent County Council, Medway Council, the Highways Agency, Kent Police and the courts service.
