HOMES were left without electricity for more than six hours last night.

EDF were swamped with phone calls as lights went out around the borough at around 1.30pm in Bromley yesterday afternoon.

Power went back around 3pm before cutting out completely for another five hours.

Residents were left stranded with no lights, heating or hot water until 11pm when the power came back on intermittently.

A spokesman for EDF. speaking last night, could not be guarantee power back on before the morning.

The cause of the blackout remains unknown.
