Power cut affects hundreds of homes

Almost 500 households in New Barn and Longfield are without power on Monday.

According to EDF Energy a fault on an overhead electricity line led to an 'interruption to power supplies' in north Kent at 7.48pm yesterday. The fault is said to have affected 'several thousand customers.'

The company said its engineers worked through the night to restore power to the majority by 2am on Monday.

But 418 customers in Longfield and New Barn are still without power.

A spokesman for EDF said: "We appreciate how difficult it is to lose power, especially in these weather conditions. We apologise for the inconvenience caused."
