Power cut leaves homes in the dark

THOUSANDS of Bexley homes were left without power last night.

Supply was cut to “several thousand” customers mainly in the Sidcup area at about 11.40pm because of a substation fault.

It was restored to 2,000 customers by 2am on Friday and the rest by 2.50am.

Firefighters from Bexley station were called to nine addresses to deal with alarms set off by the cut.

An EDF Energy Networks spokesman could not confirm exactly how many homes were affected but apologised for any inconvenience.
