St. George’s Church of England Foundation School at Broadstairs is closed today (Monday, December 8) after a massive electrical surge caused a power failure.

Principal Keith Rumblo said: "We lost power during Friday afternoon and we had hoped for the problem to be resolved in time for the new school week.

"However, on Monday the school still had no power and no heating, so I made the decision to close the school for the day.

"I hope that the matter will be resolved as soon as possible."

No other property was affected.
