Prices announced for Mazda's duo

MAZDA has released pricing and insurance groups for the Mazda estate and diesel versions which go on sale on September 1.

According to the company, the diesel and estate will offer “the outstanding driving dynamics” already seen in the petrol version of the Mazda6 through the new platform developed specifically for this car.

Both the diesel and estate version will retain the other attributes of the Mazda6, such as load capacity, braking, interior space, design, craftsmanship and the unique Karakuri seat function. The diesel will also be a frugal performer in fuel economy.

For the entry level Mazda6 S with the 12ps common-rail diesel, the insurance group is 7E, at least a group below almost every other car in the segment. For the Mazda6 TS and TS2 with both engine variants, the insurance jumps one group to 8E and the Mazda6 Diesel Sport is just 9E.

Pricing for the diesel starts at £14,595 on the road for the five-door Mazda6 S Diesel, rising to £18,595 for the 1 36ps engine in Sport trim in the four and five-door and in TS2 trim on the estate.

The 136ps Mazda MZR-CD common-rail diesel will be available in all three body styles in TS and TS2 trim, with the Sport trim available only as a diesel in four and five-door. The 121ps diesel will be available only in the five-door and estate models in S trim in addition to the TS and TS2 on the five-door.

The Mazda6 estate is available in S. TS and TS2 trim powered by either the 2.0-litre petrol MZR 141ps engine or the 2.0-litre 121ps and 136ps common-rail diesels.

Prices start at £14,995 on the road for the Mazda6 2.0 Estate S. rising to £18,595 for the Mazda6 2.0 Estate TS2 Diesel. The Mazda6 Sport4 Estate AWD will join the line-up in November.
