Dedicated carer Judy Coe impressed the granddaughter of one of her clients so much that she has been put forward for a Pride in Medway award.
Mrs Coe, 59, of Holding Street, Rainham, looked after Edith Dovey, enabling her to live happily in her own home, until she died in April 2008 at the age of 102.
Mrs Dovey's granddaughter, Maria Jarvis, who also lives in Rainham, has now nominated Mrs Coe for an award to mark the exceptional care she gave.
Miss Jarvis said: "She deserves recognition for all the hard work, dedication and hours that she puts in.
"She is what I call a good, old-fashioned carer, not someone who just rushes in and gets the job done as quickly as possible. She really does care about other people."
Mrs Coe, who works for Guardian Homecare, is said to always puts the welfare of her clients and friends first.
"You never hear her moan or complain, she just gets stuck in to whatever life throws at her," said Miss Jarvis.
"She is a truly wonderful person, a one-off.
Mrs Coe reacted to the news saying: "I'm dumbfounded. My work is my pleasure, it's a labour of love.
"But I'm not alone, there are a lot of great carers out there, and I get great support from the other carers and the office staff at my agency."
Dozens of people have been put forward for the eighth Pride in Medway awards. Nominations have now closed.
