A pensioner who stands tall despite suffering from chronic arthritis has been nominated for a Pride in Medway award.
Ken Law, of Hayley Road, Cuxton, has been put forward in the community involvement category by his daughter Lynette.
"My dad is greatly involved in the Cuxton community," she said. "Cuxton would be a very different community without him."
"He is a former parish councillor and is still involved in many of the village organisations, even at the age of 73.
"He regularly works with Cuxton Countryside Group, clearing and marking footpaths to make the walkways safe for others.
"He does voluntary work at Ranscombe Reserve, too, and leads local history walks around the Cuxton countryside.
"He also finds time to go on sponsored walks to raise money for local charities and checks routes planned by others.
"As a member of The Wheel of Cuxton he helps manage and organise the annual village firework display. He spends most of his time before the display unloading lorries and building the bonfire which is very heavy work.
"As well as this he arranges for Father Christmas to visit the homes of village children, schools and playgroups."
"My dad manages to do all these things despite suffering with chronic arthritis. He doesn't want recognition, but I think he deserves it."
Ken Law said: "I'm not looking for rewards. The things I do are completely voluntary. I just enjoy being involved in the community around me."
