More than 97% of children in Kent will start at a primary school this year named on their parents' application and 89% at their first choice.
This means 16,839 of a total 17,286 children who applied will be attending one of their preferred schools.
Roger Gough, Kent County Council’s cabinet member for children, young people and education, said: "Having expanded lots of the primary schools in recent years and new schools being built soon, we have been able to fulfil most preferences for families."

The figures are almost identical to last year, when 97.7% children were offered a school on their application form and 89.5% their first choice.
However, 447 pupils have been left without a school they want, equating to 2.6%.
Mr Gough added: "We appreciate this will be a disappointing and concerning time for those families but we urge them not to be discouraged as this is only the first stage in the applications process.
"Please do take a look at the school you have been offered, but there are other options to pursue aswell - this is only the start of the process.
"I want to reassure parents many pupils will secure places through waiting lists and reallocation."
KCC predict there will be considerable movement on school waiting lists between now and September as some families do not take up places they have been offered.
Parents who applied online will receive an email after 4pm today telling them which school they have been offered or can look online from 5pm.
Those who applied by post will be sent a notification by first class post today.
The options for anyone unhappy with their offer is to join a waiting list of an alternative school or lodge an appeal.
Parents will have until Monday, May 13 to accept or refuse their offer and return waiting list forms. Appeals must be lodged by Tuesday, May 21.
KCC will then reallocate places from schools waiting lists, sending out a second round of offers on Wednesday, June 12, from which point schools will control their own waiting lists and parents apply directly.
