Princess Anne to attend KM Chatham Navy Days

A SPECIAL visitor is coming to KM Chatham Navy Days - the Princess Royal. She will be the event's VIP guest on Monday, June 3, during the long weekend which marks the climax of the Queen's Golden Jubilee.

Her trip to Chatham's Historic Dockyard will be the only royal visit to Kent during the nationwide celebrations from June 1 to 4.

Bill Fowler, director of KM Chatham Navy Days, said: "It is wonderful news. Her attendance will really add to the festivities and celebrations. Navy Days will provide a focus for tens of thousands of people to come together and celebrate the jubilee."

During her visit the 51-year-old Princess will be shown many of the dockyard's warships and military exhibits. Medway Council leader Rodney Chambers said: "This visit indicates the importance of Medway in the present day and over the last 50 years of the Queen's reign."

Attractions this year will include heritage vessels, air displays, military bands and displays from other services including the RNLI, HM Coastguard, the police, fire brigade and HM Customs and Excise.
