THE Prison Ombudsman is to investigate the death of an inmate who was found hanging at Elmley Prison in Eastchurch on Sheppey.

Jason Lee Alldis, 33, from South London, was serving two years, three months, for actual bodily harm. His body was found by staff at about 8.15pm on Sunday.

They tried to resuscitate him but he was pronounced dead by the prison doctor at 9.21pm. The police and coroner have been informed.
