A prisoner is on the run after going missing from HMP Rochester.

Shaun Battye was given temporary release from the Fort Road prison on Monday.

But the 37-year-old failed to return later that day.

Battye is believed to be travelling from Kent to South Yorkshire as he has family in Rotherham, Doncaster and Sheffield.

He is described as white, 5ft 9in, with blue eyes and mousey brown hair. He is stocky and has a Yorkshire accent.

Mr Battye was wearing prison-issue green work trousers over blue jeans, a striped t-shirt and a high-visibility jacket.

Kent Police said he is also known to use the alias name of Tristan Lea.
