Hundreds, possibly thousands, of StopKIG protesters are expected to turn out for a demonstration against the Kent International Gateway project.
Demonstrators will gather on Bearsted Green on bank holiday Monday, May 4, at 10am, before setting off at 10.30am for a march to the proposed KIG site.
Organisers say they are hoping for a huge turnout to demonstrate the strength of feeling against a proposal to concrete over 250 acres of countryside at the foot of the North Downs for a road-rail freight interchange.
StopKIG urges everyone opposed to the freight depot to make the effort to attend and, if possible, wear a white T-shirt or top.
Three days later, on Thursday, May 7, Maidstone council will be holding a planning committee meeting at the Maidstone Studios in New Cut Road, Grove Green, at 6pm. The location has been specially chosen to accommodate the large number of residents expected to attend.
You do not need an invitation or ticket– people can just turn up on the door. KIG is the only item on the agenda.
