Seven of the more memorable nights in the life of photographer Barry Goodwin were the stunning starting point for Lipstick and Ink, his new gallery exhibition at the Pie Factory, Margate.

Barry, who lives near Folkestone, stepped out of his usual life to shoot the World Burlesque Games at a series of venues in London’s West End.

Now his exhibition is part of an eclectic larger show, by a total of four photographers, at the venue, which was once a butcher’s premises.

Barry said of his seven nights at the World Burlesque Games: “Every night was amazing with acts ranging from acrobatics on a trapeze to hula-hooping with a ring of burning feathers. And you were never sure of what the finale would be each night!”

Barry is launching a book, Lipstick and Ink, in December, with an exhibition in Soho. The book documents the games both on and off the stage.

He shares the gallery space at the Pie Factory with specialist sports photographer Ady Kerry, former Getty Images boxing specialist John Gichigi.

The fourth photographer, Tom Lloyd, will be exhibiting his travel images, with pictures taken around the globe – from New Zealand to Dungeness.
