A pub-goer got knifed in the bottom after a fight broke out in a boozer's garden and continued outside.

The incident happened at the Leading Light pub in Preston Street, Faversham, last night.

Police were called by bar staff at 9.20pm and two patrols attended.

But officers said the suspects ran out into Newton Road and disappeared.

Minutes later another fight broke out again in nearby Gatefield Lane.

Police said during the fracas a 25-year-old man from Faversham suffered a small single puncture wound to his right buttock.

He was taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford and was released after receiving two stitches.

A 21-year-old man from Faversham was arrested at Faversham Recreation Ground at 9.50pm on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Later that evening a second man, a 24-year-old from the town, was arrested at his home, also on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Both have been bailed to 23 July pending further enquiries.

A third man was arrested for being in possession of a bladed article. He has been cautioned and released.

PC Kath Earle, who is investigating the incident, said: "We believe the weapon used was a 2in long pocket knife.

"Although on this occasion the injury was not life-threatening it shows yet again the dangers of carrying a knife.

"We are appealing for anyone who may have seen the fight or events leading up to it to contact us."
