A convicted killer wanted on recall to prison has now been apprehended by police.
Peter Clement was jailed for his part in the brutal killing of “gentle” alcoholic David Wilkes in the peace garden at Dane John Gardens, Canterbury.
The drunken thug – who recruited Lloyd Thorne to take part in the attack – had punched and kicked 35-year-old Mr Wilkes after accusing him of being "a nonce" and hitting women.
Mr Wilkes was taken to hospital with a severe head wound and died six days later from his injuries - causing shock and grief to his friends and family.
Clement later told police he had "bashed" his victim during the July 2013 attack "because he was a nonce".
He was jailed for 10 years after being found guilty of manslaughter by a jury in April 2014.
Last week police launched an appeal for information to find Clement who was wanted on recall to prison after his licence was revoked.
This was linked to the 61-year-old’s separate conviction concerning the possession of a bladed article - not his manslaughter conviction.
Clement is from Truro, but also has links to Kent, Dorset and Hastings.
A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said at the time that “numerous inquiries” had been made by police to locate and arrest him.
The force has now confirmed that Clement has been apprehended in Sussex.
