ANTI-TERRORIST detectives have been given more time to question three men, one from Chatham, suspected of international terrorism.

Officers from the anti-terrorist branch of the Metropolitan Police are still questioning the three men, who were arrested on Friday, October 21.

Officers from Kent Police had worked with colleagues from the Metropolitan Police to execute a warrant at an address in Chatham Town Centre at around 10pm last Friday.

Police confirmed a search of the residential property revealed no hazardous materials had been found.

The exact location of the raid has not been disclosed.

All three men had been arrested on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism under the Terrorism Act 2000.

The Metropolitan Police said the operation did not involve armed officers and the raids, and subsequent arrests, were not connected to the July 7 London bombings.

Another suspect was detained in Shepherd’s Bush and the third attended a London police station voluntarily on Saturday, October 22.

Officers now have until today to complete their questioning of the three young men, who are all aged in their early 20s, and are presently being detained at a central London police station.
