They say there's no such thing as a free lunch, but at the launch of a new sandwich store in Chatham that wasn't strictly true.

These lucky customers queueing outside a new Subway store in Chatham Maritime were each given a free six inch roll and soft drink.

Within the first hour of opening more than 100 people took up the offer of free grub.

Manager Dan Holland said: "People were outside shouting for their Subways before we opened, I've been baking like mad, it's crazy."
