London Bridge security alert: Kent rail passengers face long delays

Problems on Kent's rail network are expected to continue until at least midnight following a security alert at London Bridge station.

A man was arrested at the station for claiming to have a bomb in his bag ... on the anniversary of 9/11.

The 45-year-old was travelling on the 6.58pm Cannon Street service into the station when he pulled the emergency cord.

The station was immediately evacuated, leading to chaos across the network.

A spokesman confirmed at 10.30pm that the incident was a false alarm and no devices were found in his bag.

He added: "The man had been travelling on the 6.58pm Cannon Street service into the station and pulled the emergency cord.

"BTP fire officers attended and the platforms were evacuated. A 45-year-old man has been arrested and taken into police custody.

"The train was evacuated whilst officers dealt with the man who was arrested."
