Quadriplegic sailor Hilary Lister is just two weeks away from setting off on an attempt to circumnavigate Britain.

Hilary, who lives at Dunkirk, near Canterbury, and is able only to move her head, eyes and mouth, will leave Dover on June 9 to sail the North Sea, Irish Sea, and English Channel as well as the Caledonian Canal.

The 35-year-old uses a sip and puff device to steer her state-of-the-art boat. She is expected to take three to four months to complete the journey in a series of day sails.

A support team will return her to the exact spot she finished on every day.

Hilary has previously set two world records by being the first quadriplegic to sail solo across the English Channel in 2005 and the first female quadriplegic to solo circumnavigate the Isle of Wight in 2007.

Hilary suffers from reflex sympathetic dystrophy which was diagnosed when she was a teenager.
