Stuart Lewis will be playing League 1 football next season after signing for newly-promoted Dagenham & Redbridge.
The midfielder was released by Gillingham at the end of season after the club were relegated to League 2.
Lewis was a popular figure among Gills fans and will be remembered for his cameo roles at right-back, where he filled in admirably for captain Barry Fuller.
The 22-year-old was signed by previous manager Mark Stimson in January 2008 and played 60 games for the Gills.
Dagenham were promoted from League 2 after beating Rotherham in this year’s League 2 play-off final.
Lewis has penned a three year deal at the club.
