THE M20 is back running normally again after Operation Stack was lifted at 5.30am on Saturday.

Motorists suffered more than a day and a half of misery on the motorway as police allowed freight traffic to park on the coastbound carriageway to queue for the Port of Dover.

The road was closed between junction 10 at Ashford and junction 11 at Folkestone on Thursday afternoon and all of Friday as the ferry services caught up after severe weather conditions and industrial action.

The M20 between junction 8 and 9 was also affected during the period Operation Stack was in force.
