A YOUNG man is recovering at home after a road crash which claimed the life of his 16-year-old sister.

Aaron Murphy, 18, suffered serious head injuries in the crash on December 14 in Hartsdown Road, Margate, in which schoolgirl Kelsey died.

He was transferred back to hospital in Margate from the Royal Free Hospital in London on the Thursday before Christmas and was back home in Ramsgate the following day.

His mother, Lorraine Miller, said: “What an about-turn. He is making a remarkable recovery and is almost 100 per cent there. He has been shopping and out with his friends.”

On Christmas Day members of the family joined friends of the pair at the tributes to Kelsey at the spot where the accident happened.

Mrs Miller, a teacher at St George’s School, Broadstairs, said: “It was lovely. We went down there on Christmas morning and quite a few of her friends had agreed to meet there, so we spent some time with them.”

Aaron is studying for his A-levels at St George’s School and is a promising midfielder for Herne Bay United’s under-21 team. A minute’s silence was held at the club’s final game before Christmas in memory of Kelsey.

The accident happened next to the cricket club when a Renault Clio driven by Aaron was in collision with a lorry. Kelsey was a passenger in the car. The lorry driver, a 30-year-old man from Rugby, was not injured.
