HMS Kent held a Remembrance ceremony in the Arabian Sea on Sunday as the crew prepared to face the dangers of tackling piracy, terrorism and smuggling.
Nearly everyone onboard the county’s adopted warship, except those required for maintaining safety, attended the flight deck service.
The frigate recently joined the combined task force responsible for maintaining maritime security in the Gulf of Oman, the Gulf of Aden, the North Arabian Sea, the Red Sea to Suez, Southeast of the Straits of Hormuz and parts of the Indian Ocean.
The commanding officer, Commander Simon Hopper, said: "It was humbling to see the affinity and understanding of my crew in respect of service personnel who have given their lives in active service for their country and for those who continue to do so, including my own team.
"History shows us that it takes strength of character and selfless values to serve in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces - I am proud to say, I have seen both in my ship’s company today."
HMS Kent has recently been in the Far East where its activities included multi-national exercises with the American, Australian, Chinese, Malaysian, New Zealand and Singaporean navies.
