The sun was shining on April 15, 1989 and Kent journalist Andrew Gidley was settling into Hillsborough stadium's press area preparing to commentate on an FA Cup semi final.
Hours later he would be describing British sport's worst disaster.
Andrew - who now works as a sports writer for KM Group - had travelled up to the Liverpool v Nottingham Forest FA Cup semi-final by train and had been unaware of the problems fans were having trying to get into the Sheffield ground.
The first he knew of the deadly crush was when supporters spilled onto the pitch a few minutes into the game. The referee stopped play and Andrew had to describe the chaotic scenes as it emerged people had died in the Leppings Lane end of the stadium.
He did not know that so many had lost their lives but was faced with the challenge of broadcasting live as the true scale of the tragedy, which killed 96 people, became clear.
Watch Andrew talking about that day 20 years ago in the video above when a football commentating job turned into witnessing a nightmare.
