A NIGHTMARE neighbour was evicted from her home after a whole street pulled together to put an end to the hell she put them through.
At one stage, every resident of Gill Avenue, Wainscott, near Rochester, applied to be moved to a different area because of the anti-social behaviour of the 19-year-old tenant.
Eventually they decided to stay and battle it out and the two women who led the successful campaign have now been shortlisted for an award for their efforts.
Suzanne Beeching and Kelly Bradfield have been put forward for a Taking a Stand award, supported by the Home Office, to recognise the unsung heroes who challenge anti-social behaviour in their communities.
Suzanne, Kelly and the other residents worked with their landlord, the Southern Housing Group, Medway Council, Medway Police and solicitors to take the troublesome tenant to court and get her and her mother moved on last year.
The long-suffering families of Gill Avenue were tormented for five years during which they kept a diary of despair that was used as evidence.
Mother of three, Suzanne, 33, said: "Things were so bad here we couldn't take any more. People had started dealing and taking drugs in our street.
"It was also littered with beer cans and it all stemmed from this one girl who constantly had her friends around drinking, swearing and staying up late with really loud music.
"We lost count of how many times the police went around to her house. On one occasion we watched as four officers carried her from her house at 4pm on a Sunday."
