Reward for missing rare dog

OWNERS of a very rare show dog are offering a reward for information leading to his return to their family home in Egerton Forstal, near Maidstone.

Gvir, a ten-year-old Canaan, from Israel, competed successfully at Crufts several times winning best dog in breed last year. There are only 100 Canaan dogs in the Britain.

Since Gvir vanished on September 23 there have been possible sightings in Smarden and Cranbrook.

Owner Lorna Hastings said: "He's never gone off before. I was away and he may have gone looking for me. My four-year-old son is distraught. He keeps saying when is Gvir coming home, and looks for him every morning on the way to school.

"Their instinct for survival is very strong so he would run if a stranger confronted him. We're hoping that even at his age he will be capable of finding food."

Gvir is 23ins at the shoulder with golden beige medium length coat and pricked up ears. He has been neutered. When he went missing he was wearing a dark fabric collar with two tags on it, although his owners fear it may have fallen off.

If you have seen Gvir please call Lorna Hastings on 01233 756565.
