Road accident boy 'serious'

A YOUNG boy is in a serious condition in hospital after he was pulled from beneath a car following an accident in Ramsgate town centre.

The nine-year-old child was freed by fire crews and taken to the Queen Mother Hospital at Margate with serious head, leg, and arm injuries.

Police say a woman driver and a younger female got out of the car, clearly distressed at what had happened.

A spokesman said: "The older woman did leave the scene for a short while and went to a nearby shop to telephone a relative. She then returned to the scene."

The accident happened in Ramsgate's Thanet Road at around 11.30am on Thursday. Police cordoned off the area.
