POLICE are conducting road checks in Kent in connection with an alleged abduction outside of the county.
A man from the London area claims to have been kidnapped in Camden, London, and kept in disused premises in Shadoxhurst, near Ashford, on Wednesday, March 15 until he managed to escape and raise the alarm.
The 36-year-old man contacted police at 11.40am saying that he had been out walking his dog at around 7.30am when he was abducted from outside his home.
He claims he was bundled into a van, tied up and blindfolded. He described the vehicle as a red panelled van with sliding foors to the side and says he was kidnapped by four men.
Police believe he was brought to detached premises in Shadoxhurst between 10.30am and 11am and held against his will before managing to escape.
Road checks are being held today in Shadoxhurst between 10am and noon when officers will stop motorists and pedestrians. Checks will also be taking place in Camden.
Kent Police's Det Ch Insp Jon Bumpus said: "This was a very traumatic incident for the man involved and we ask that anyone with any information, no matter how small they believe it is, to come forward.
"Did you see anything suspicious in the Shadoxhurst area at the time, which you may have dismissed as being slightly unusual? This may be connected and could help with out investigation."
