Road checks in hunt for killer driver

Police carried out road checks on the week anniversary of a man being struck by a car and killed.

Officers spoke to motorists in the area of the children’s playground at Prince’s Parade at Seabrook, near Hythe, between 4.30pm and 5.30pm Saturday .

Kent Police spokesman Kelly Betts said: "They were there to encourage witnesses to come forward and gather more information to assist the investigation."

Police had been called to a road collision at about 5pm exactly seven days earlier when pedestrian Michael Pritchard, 49, was hit by a car.

It happened near the end of Prince’s Parade where it meets the main Seabrook Road.

Mr Pritchard was taken to William Harvey Hospital in Ashford but died later from his injuries.

He was a former Eurotunnel worker who lived in Park Avenue, Dover, and was understood to be a father-of-three.

A 46-year-old Dover man was arrested on suspicion of murder after the death and released on bail pending further investigations.
