Kent police today
carried out road checks in a Kent village on the first anniversary
of a grandmother’s death.

Shirley Leedham, 70, died while crossing
the A20 in Harrietsham on October 9 last year.

At the time her death prompted a huge police
operation to track down the hit-and-run driver.

A year on and officers again questioned
drivers and local residents in a bid to find that one piece of
vital information.

PC Guy Ditcher said: “There are people out
there who will know what happened, who is responsible and the
vehicle involved.

"We are asking for those people now to come
forward. The family are still distraught over what happened.”
