This weekend thousands of people will take time to reflect and honour fallen soldiers at Remembrance services.
On Sunday, November 13, there will be parades across Kent for Armistice day, which this year marks 104 years since the end of the First World War.
Here is a list of roads that will be closed to make room for the services this weekend:
Medway
In Chatham, a service will be held on Friday, November 11 at Victoria Gardens which will start at around 10.40am and will the Mayor of Medway, Cllr Jan Aldous, laying a wreath.
On Sunday, November 13, there will be a parade along Chatham High Street, starting at 10am at the car park behind the former Debenhams building.
After this, there will then be a service held in Victoria Gardens which will be live streamed on the Love Chatham Facebook page – a salute will be taken on the return journey outside The Central Theatre.
In Rochester, a British Legion parade will be held which will be followed by a service at Rochester Cathedral which will start at 10.50am.
It will be broadcast live at the war memorial in Rochester High Street.
There will also be services held at the war memorial at The Great Lines Heritage Park in Gillingham, the Medway Park memorial in Mill Road, Gillingham, St Margaret’s Church in Rainham and at Brompton War Memorial in Wood Street, Brompton.
Temporary road closures to enable services and parades to be carried out safely on Sunday, November 13 include:
Sittingbourne
In Sittingbourne there will be a service of Remembrance starting at St Michael’s Church in the High Street and continuing on to the War Memorial on Sunday, November 13.
Those attending the service should arrive by 9.45am.
After this, there will be a parade from the church up to the war memorial and people will gather at 10.45am in Central Avenue
Road closure from 8am-12pm:
Maidstone
In Maidstone, a parade will start at 10.20am from the town hall, and a service of Remembrance will be held at the memorial in the Broadway.
Roads likely to remain shut between 10.30am and 11.30am will include:
Staplehurst
Staplehurst High Street will be closed to all traffic between 10.10am and 10.35am.
Closure points include:
Dover
At 11am on Sunday 13, there will be a remembrance service in Dover at the War Memorial in front of Maison Dieu House.
Road closure for the duration of the service:
Tonbridge
On Sunday, a parade in Tonbridge will march along the following roads, leading to road closures for up to 15 minutes between 10.30am and 12.30pm:
West Malling
In West Malling, events will start at 2pm and there will be a service of remembrance at 2.30pm at St Mary's Church
Road closures from 2.10pm to 2.25:
Dartford
In Dartford, there will be a service of remembrance at 10.40am followed by a veteran march.
The following will be closed from 10.15am:
Tenterden
A parade will take place from Recreation Ground Road in Tenterden at 10.30am which will proceed towards the war memorial for a service.
After this, there will be a parade back to Church Road.
Road closure from 10.25am to 10.40am:
Arriva are also offering free bus travel to both past and present members of the Armed Forces on Sunday, November 13.
Chris Burley, Commercial director for Arriva South said: “As a Business, we’re proud to support The Royal British Legion, and our drivers may also pull over to partake in a two-minute silence at 11am on both Friday 11th and Sunday 13th November, providing it is safe and legal to do so.”
