Roads have now reopened after a major
crash in Maidstone town centre.

The Kent Air Ambulance landed in the
middle of the town after a man was injured in an accident.

The 62-year-old is being treated for
life-threatening injuries after a collision with a car in
central Maidstone.

Main roads were closed in the
town after the accident on Broadway.

It happened just after noon outside
Lidl's at the Broadway shopping centre where the man sustained
injuries to his head, arms and legs.

Kent Air Ambulance was called and police
closed the bridge while it landed next to St Peter's Street.
Paramedics jumped from the helicopter and rushed to the man's
aid.

The air ambulance then circled for several minutes before
leaving the scene. The man has been taken to Maidstone Hospital by
land ambulance.

A large crowd gathered at the scene and
traffic was congested, but the roads have now reopened.
