Robbers escape with cash from betting shop

A MEMBER of staff at a bookmakers was threatened by two robbers who entered the shop and demanded money.

The men took an amount of cash from a till at Coral Bookmakers in Wrotham Road, Borough Green, near Sevenoaks, on Monday December 18, at about 11.30am.

They then raced from the shop to a car which drove off in the direction of the main village of Borough Green.

Police say one of the robbers was black, 6ft-6ft 3ins tall, of slim build and aged between 18 and 23. He was wearing dark coloured clothing, including a hooded top with a silver or grey lining.

The other man was white and wearing a black hooded top, white scarf and tracksuit bottoms. He spoke with a southern accent.

Police are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the area from about 9.am and saw the black man as he is thought to have been hanging around the village up to two hours before the robbery.

Det Sgt Richard Pringle said: "We would like to hear from people who saw the incident, perhaps as the men went into the betting shop or drove off, and anyone who might have noticed one of the men earlier in the morning.

"People would have been going to work at that time so I am sure someone would have seen something."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 01732 370217 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
