A newsagents in Medway has been robbed for a second time in less than a month.

The McColl’s Newsagents in Orion Road, Rochester, was targeted in the early hours of this morning, it is not known at this stage exactly how much was stolen and if anyone was hurt.

The shop, on the Warren Wood estate, was raided last month, on Wednesday, August 29, when two men who threatened staff at knifepoint and made off thousands of pounds of takings.

During the last raid, at least one of the men was brandishing a knife and is said to have grabbed hold of a female shop assistant and held a knife to her throat, demanding she open the safe and get the cash out.

The woman suffered a small cut to her neck during the incident which happened at about 6.30am, the robbers got away on foot with around £7,500.

This morning, (Wednesday) robbers struck at about 5.45am, when it is thought staff were opening the shop for the day.

One man who lives on the Warren Wood estate, said: "The shop was all closed up when I went down this morning at about 8.30am.

"I could see there was a police van out the back, but that was about it."

In 2010, the shop was robbed by thieves wearing balaclavas who made off with just under £400 was taken.
