SUMMERTIME blues has hit a group of middle-aged rockers who have had to leave their monthly 50s dance night venue – for making too much noise.
Members of Cuxton Rock and Roll Club have been left shaking all over after the bands who perform there exceeded the decibel limit laid down at West Malling Village Hall by council environmental health officers.
Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council left the club with no particular place to go after residents complained that noise from its 50s dance nights went on until past midnight.
One neighbour said: "It was absolute hell."
But the rock ’n’ rollers – some aged more than 70 – are far from happy.
The club’s events organiser, Martin Griffiths, said: "It’s very unfair and has stopped more than 150 people enjoying themselves. The punters loved the venue."
