FIVE cats rescued by the RSPCA are being cared and awaiting a new home.

Ten were taken by the charity from a house in the Canterbury area after concerns about their welfare.

Claire Butler, secretary of the Canterbury branch of the RSPCA, has taken on five of the rescued animals at her cattery in Whitstable. The other five are being cared for at the charity’s East Kent Animal Centre in Thanet.

Four of the cats were pregnant and one gave birth to a litter of six kittens at Mrs Butler’s cattery. However, four of the kittens have died.

The RSPCA is appealing for donations to help foot the costs of caring for the rescued cats and their kittens. It would also like to hear from anyone willing to give them a permanent home. For more information telephone Claire Butler on 01227 772846.
