Whitstable Town boosted their Ryman League Division 1 South survival chances with a vital 2-1 win over relegation rivals Chatham Town at the Belmont on Saturday.

Despite playing more than 70 minutes with 10-men following James Peacock's dismissal for an off-the-ball incident involving Anthony Hogg, the hosts staged a late fightback to snatch the points.

Chatham took the lead 25 minutes from time through Kane Rice but substitute Gareth Cornhill (pictured) cracked the equaliser with nine minutes to go and Dan Wisker headed the clincher two minutes later.

Billy Shinners struck the woodwork in either half for the Chats, who are now five points adrift of Corinthian Casuals and safety with just four games remaining, while Town moved a point clear of Corinthian in 19th.

Ramsgate's push for a play-off spot was all-but ended by a 2-2 draw against promotion-chasing Whitehawk at Southwood on Saturday.

Mark Lovell opened the scoring for the hosts on 15 minutes from 20 yards but a Liam Quinn own goal from a corner drew the visitors level before the half-hour.

Stuart Vahid pounced to put the Rams back ahead a minute before the break but Whitehawk drew level seven minutes from time to leave the Rams effectively five points from the play-off places having played two more games than the sides they are chasing.

Sittingbourne are a further point back as their play-off dream was ended by a 3-0 defeat to promotion-rivals Walton & Hersham at Bourne Park.

Bourne went behind seven minutes before the break and the visitors added two more goals in quick succession either side of the hour mark.

Faversham Town are 11th and another three points behind - with a game in hand on both their Kent rivals - after a 1-0 win at Horsham YMCA which doomed the hosts to relegation.

Justin Ascheri scored the only goal five minutes into the second half while the hosts were reduced to 10-men shortly after the hour.
