Margate held Ryman Premier League leaders Billericay Town to a 1-1 draw on Saturday.

A late equaliser from Richard Avery denied maxiumum points for the hosts.

Billericay had taken the lead midway through the first half through Benson Kpaka.

With six minutes left a corner was only partially cleared and Avery took full advantage by converting.

Play-off chasing Cray Wanderers picked up a handy three points after beating Bury Town 2-0.

Leigh Bremner smashed in the opener off the bar and just before the hour it was 2-0. Tommy Whitnel scored from the penalty spot after Bremner was fouled.

Cray finished with 10 men after Chris Saunders was sent off for a bad tackle.

Chatham Town pulled off a shock on Saturday after beating table-topping Needham Market 1-0 at Maidstone Road.

Lee Hales scored the winner late in the game to punish the wasteful visitors in the Ryman Leaguie, Division 1 North match.

Market had numerous chances to score but Chats keeper Tim Roberts kept them at bay.

The game was marred by an injury to 23-year-old striker Sam Newson, who was stretchered off with a knee injury, to end hopes of a trial at Gillingham.

Thamesmead Town were beaten 3-1 on home turf by Harlow Town. Their consolation goal was scored by Chuck Duru.

In Division 1 South, Faversham Town suffered a 3-0 home defeat to promotion-chasing Dulwich Hamlet.

Dean Carpenter opened the scoring for Dulwich after 10 minutes at Salters Lane and doubled their lead five minutes after the restart, through Ishmail Kamara.

Kevin James, the former Charlton and Gillingham striker, rounded off the win with the third on 79 minutes.

A double from James Everitt helped Folkestone Invicta to three points against Chipstead.

Everitt (pictured above) opened the scoring with a 43rd minute header and he nodded home again on 64.

Stuart King almost came close to scoring but his shot hit the post. Visitors Chipstead also struck the woodwork but Everitt’s goals sealed the 2-0 win.

Hythe Town’s winning run was ended in dramatic style at Worthing.

Scott Porter’s men had won their last three matches but last 5-0 on Saturday.

Tom Manton struck Worthing’s opener after six minutes and two goals from Tom Lawley made it three by the break..

Ronnie Dolan hit the post after the break but the comeback never materialised and Hythe keeper Paul Egan was beaten twice more.

A last minute goal denied Whitstable Town from claiming a point at Burgess Hill Town on Saturday.

Justin Luchford’s side lost 3-2 on their travels and they were on the backfoot in the game after a mistake from their keeper allowed Hill to score.

Stuart Vahid levelled the match but Whitstable found themselves behind again after Tom Bold scored from distance.

Damian Able made it 2-2 but Hill won it late on with a Lekan Bankole header.

Sittingbourne record a second successive goalless draw, after returning from Godalming Town without a goal.

The Brickies almost snatched the points in the dying minutes but Hichan Akhazzan’s effort bounced off the bar.

A third straight league defeat for Maidstone United leaves them sitting fourth in the table and nine points adrift of leaders Bognor Regis.

The Stones suffered a surprise 1-0 home reverse against lowly Walton Casuals after conceding an injury-time penalty.

Ellis Green had an effort ruled out for a foul in the second half but in stoppage time the visitors won it from the spot. Debutant Lee Gledhill was adjudged to have fouled in the box and Glenn Stanley netted from 12 yards.

Ramsgate were left without a fixture on Saturday after opponents Croydon Athletic pulled out of the fixture at late notice.

The Croydon club are teetering on the brink. Many of their players walked out before the weekend and last week they were hit by a 10 point penalty for breaches of rules regarding to payment of players.
